6 Then King Hezekiah, taking hold of Manasseh his son, brought him to the blessed prophet Isaiah, that he might lay his hands upon him and bless him. But when the great prophet Isaiah saw Manasseh, he laughed at him and said to Hezekiah: “I cannot bless Manasseh, who is going to punish me with great torments and bitter sufferings.”
7 And Hezekiah said to the holy prophet Isaiah: “Bless, father, Manasseh my son.”
8 But he said: “As the Lord my God [and his beloved Son and the Spirit speaking in me] lives, I shall be delivered **from bitter torments** by the hands of Manasseh your son.”
9 For Satan will dwell in the heart of Manasseh your son, and I shall be sawn in two with a wooden saw from head to foot, and he will turn many from Jerusalem and Judah away from the living God, and they will worship idols.
10 And when King Hezekiah heard these things, he was greatly grieved and tore his garments and wept bitterly, and put dust on his head and spread sackcloth and ashes, and fell on his face as if dead.
11 And the great prophet of God, Isaiah, said to King Hezekiah: “You will not benefit yourself at all by weeping and lamenting, for the counsel of Satan must be fulfilled in your son Manasseh.”
12 And at that hour King Hezekiah was considering killing his son Manasseh. But Shommai the historiographer said to the holy prophet Isaiah that King Hezekiah wanted to kill his son because of him.
13 And the great Isaiah said to King Hezekiah: “The Lord God [and his Beloved] has annulled your counsel; for this shall not be. For I must depart from this life, having been punished in the hands of Manasseh your son.”
14 And the great Isaiah dug in Jerusalem with his own hands, and found much water, and named it the fountain of Siloam, which is interpreted “Sent”.
CHAPTER 3
1 And King Hezekiah died and was gathered to his fathers, and Manasseh his son succeeded his kingdom.
2 But King Manasseh did not remember the commandments of his father, but forgot them all. And he abandoned the worship of God and made golden and silver idols according to his will, and worshipped Satan and his angels and his powers.
3 And he turned the whole house of his father away from the worship and adoration of God. And they worshipped the devil and his angels, along with the profane and impure idols.
3 And sorcery and fornication and enchantment and divination and falsehood multiplied among them, and all who lived piously according to God were persecuted.
4 Then the great Isaiah prophesied about the city of Jerusalem, saying: “Thus says the Lord God: This beloved and chosen city shall be handed over into the hands of Shalmanassar, king of Babylon, and Manasseh the king and his wife and his sons and his princes shall be led captive to Babylon.”
